Submission category of the cartoons & comics section made my little brain confused as hell =_=

Submitting an old work. 2009 to be exact.

This is a graphic novel I made for my school's annual art folio - Horizons. The theme was opposites. And being creative and all I chose a very unique concept- water and fire. *sarcasm*

It really brings back memories.

All the drive and enthusiasm thinking about the storyboard; talking about how the story will come out while walking home with my boyfriend; sitting in during my former professors class just so I can render this in between breaks- I got to finish the cover page quickly thanks to that; then cramming the rest of the 12 pages in three to four days with hardly any sleep and cramming for my majors too. *sigh* Good time. Gooood tiiiiiimes~.

Looking at it again, I realized I hardly improved these last 3 years- which is pretty depressing- actually, it's very depressing. Or maybe I’m just setting my standards too high again. Yeah, I think that’s it. I should stop doing that. =_= ;

I opt with illustration only graphic novel because I was never good with words- like making fictional conversations or fictional monologues. I know. I tried it. And I stank at it.

I was always more comfortable with illustrating the story without any dialogue. It's faster since you don't need to add any text or speech bubble. Plus you don't have to worry about typos.

Posting this in DA wasn't an option before. I was embarrassed to submit this; but seeing this again after three years, I’m wondering now why I ever thought of it as embarrassing. I must say I'm very happy with this. I need to pat my old self in the back.

Woah! I never expected this comic would go viral. o_o;
Some of my friends and acquaintances have been telling me all day that they were seeing this on 9gag or some other similar site or even on a wall of some friend.
The internet is a powerful force indeed.

I guess the one thing I regret is that I didn't put a link of my website on my comic.

Putting that aside, many thanks to all the comments and fav's. Right now this deviation has the most views in my gallery. And I thank you all for that ^__^

I really appreciate the love you all have been giving me.

EDIT 3: A lot of people have been asking me about this so I'm posting it here in my comment box. The animation 'Alight' has no connection whatsoever with my comic. The only similarity we have with each other is that we both have a fire boy and a water girl. That is all. Many thanks~
